Local Rules

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18.2)

a) Beyond any hedge, fence or wall surrounding the course or beyond any white marker posts.

b) Westerham Golf Club has not adopted the alternative new Local Rule (drop and two shot penalty), the standard stroke and distance rule still applies.

 

2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)

Yellow penalty areas marked with (yellow lines or yellow stakes) (Rules 17.1d(1) and (2)).

Red penalty areas marked with (red lines or red stakes) (Rule 17.1d(3)).

 

3. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16.1)

All buggy paths, walkways, railings, benches, hazard markers and all tee area signage are deemed to be immovable obstructions from which relief may be obtained.

 

4. FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS (Rule 16.1b)

The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if a fixed sprinkler head is on the line of play, and is:

a)
within two club-lengths of the putting green, and

b)
within two club-lengths of the ball.

 

5. PROTECTION OF YOUNG TREES AND NEW CULTIVATION (Rule 16.1f)

Young trees identified by stakes are no play zones: If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the ball MUST be lifted, without penalty and dropped within one club-length not nearer the hole. Rule 16.1f applies. 

 

6. GROUND UNDER REPAIR (Rule 16.1)

In all cases relief must be taken from areas marked ground under repair.

Tree stumps/felled trees - if a tree stump or felled trees (obvious evidence of greenkeeper work) interfere with a player’s stance or the area of intended swing or the ball comes to rest on stump grindings the ball may be lifted without penalty and relief may be obtained.

LOCAL RULES 2, 3, 4 AND 5:

MATCH PLAY - LOSS OF HOLE;  STROKE PLAY - TWO STROKES.

GREEN POSTS MARK 150 YARDS TO CENTRE OF GREEN
