Temporary Local Rules

Long Form (Notice Boards & Website)

These Local Rules should be read in conjunction with any Temporary Local Rules currently in force. 

Penalty for Breach of Local Rules: General Penalty: - loss of hole in match play or two penalty strokes in stroke play.

1) Out Of Bounds (Rule 18.2) (Including Internal Out of Bounds)

  1. Is defined by the line between the course-side points at ground level of white stakes. 
  2. Beyond hedges and fences at the boundary of the course and as marked by white posts.
  3. By white posts on the left when playing the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th holes and white posts on the right of the 14th and 15th holes.
  4. A ball crossing the fence between the East and South course and coming to rest on the South course is out of bounds.

White posts must not in any circumstances be removed.

Penalty for Breach of Rule 8.1a: General Penalty: - loss of hole in match play or two penalty strokes in stroke play.

2) Penalty Areas (Rule 17) 

  • All areas which contain water such as ponds, lakes and ditches on the course are Red Penalty Areas, whether marked or not.

3) Ball Deflected by Power Lines

If it is known or virtually certain that a player’s ball hit an overhead powerline during play, the stroke does not count. The player must play a ball without penalty from where the previous stroke was made (Rule 14.6).

4) Abnormal Course Conditions (including Immovable Obstructions) (Rule 16)

  • Ground Under Repair is defined by any area encircled by a white line.
  • Areas in bunkers where sand has been removed by the movement of water resulting in deep furrows through the sand are Ground Under Repair.
  • Drainage Channels and indentations caused by drainage on the fairway, are defined as Ground Under Repair/No Play Zone. When a ball lies on or touches the drainage channels on the fairway, relief must be taken (Rule 16.1f).

Immovable Obstructions

  • Staked trees, telegraph poles, notice boards, fixed sprinkler heads.
  • Mats that are secured.
  • Protective fences on the course.
