Local Rules
Out of Bounds
Any fence or wall bordering the course, in or over the River Esk. On or over white lines to the left of the 1st hole, and white posts on the left of the 2nd and 4th holes and on the right of the 15th hole.
Immovable Obstructions
A ball lying on any gravel or tarred path, footbridge, sprinkler head or fairway distance disc may be lifted and dropped (without penalty) within one club-length of, and not nearer the hole, the nearest point of relief.
All other paths whether grass or artificial turf are deemed to be integral parts of the course, and the ball should be played where it lies; the only exceptions to this being the bridges at the 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th and 15th holes, where the bridge lies within a yellow or red penalty area.
Red Penalty Areas
When a player’s ball is in a penalty area (including when it is known or virtually certain to be in the penalty area but not found), the player may take relief under Rule 17.1d. At the 15th hole, as an extra relief, when the ball last crossed the edge of the red penalty area the player may drop the original ball or another ball on the opposite side of the penalty area.
Sprinkler Heads - Rule 16.1
Sprinklers are usually positioned off the green but may be near or on the fringe. This part of the course is deemed general area and therefore the player is only given free relief if the sprinkler interferes with his stance or swing. If the sprinkler is merely on the line of play the ball must be played as it lies.
Embedded Balls - Rule 16.3
Rule 16.3 allows relief whenever a ball is embedded anywhere in the general area. Free relief is not allowed in bunkers, although a ball embedded in the face of a bunker stacked or turfed is subject to free relief.
It is a player’s responsibility to play within the Rules of Golf. Diagrams of relief areas, penalty areas etc are available in the Clubhouse and in the Professional’s Shop. They are also available in detail in - Player’s Edition of the Rules of Golf.
READY GOLF
The principles of ready golf are displayed on notices in the clubhouse and Professional’s shop and all players should make themselves conversant with these principles and observe them wherever possible. All players should attempt to maintain pace with the group ahead, and if more than a hole behind, MUST let the following group play through.
