Local Rules
OUT OF BOUNDS
Beyond the inner edge of any fence bounding the course, in or beyond any trench or ditch indicated by a line of white stakes.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR / NO PLAY ZONE
Playing a ball from an area marked “no play” or “GUR” is prohibited. Relief may be taken from these marked areas. Lift and drop without penalty within one club length of nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.
PENALTY AREAS
All parts of the Buddon Burn on 6th and 7th holes of the Medal course, and all parts of the pond at the 10th and 11th holes on the Medal course are red penalty areas, and are marked by red stakes.
On bridges over penalty areas the margins of the penalty area are defined by the inner edges of the red lines. The burn at the right of the 12th hole on Ashludie is not a penalty area; it is out of bounds.
OBSTRUCTIONS
Moveable obstructions include direction posts, tee markers, and direction signs. Immoveable obstructions include all staked or tubed trees, shelters, sheds, hydrant covers, bridges, steps, fixed seats, fixed tee and distance markers, the storage compound and toilets to the right of the Ashludie 4th green; lift and drop without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.
AERATION HOLES
On the putting green, a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be placed at the nearest spot not nearer the hole that avoids the situation.
PATHS
Relief may be taken from all artificially surfaced paths and tracks; lift and drop without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.
FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS
All fixed sprinkler heads are immoveable obstructions and relief from interference from them may be obtained. In addition if such an obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green of the hole being played intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief, without penalty, as follows. If the ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area and is within two club lengths of the intervening obstruction, it may be lifted, cleaned and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which is (a) is not nearer the hole (b) avoids such intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green.
RELIEF FROM CUT GORSE AND BROOM STUMPS
Players are now entitled to free relief from cut stumps of gorse and broom. If your stance or swing would result in contact with a cut stump, you may take relief at the nearest point of complete relief, no closer to the hole. This rule has been implemented to help minimise the risk of injury while the gorse and broom regenerate and return to full bloom. Please speak to a member of the team if you need clarification on how to proceed under this rule during play.
