Local Rules
It is the duty of all golfers to comply with all safety and etiquette notices as displayed on the course. Please keep up with the group in front or call the group behind through.
1. OUT OF BOUNDS
Beyond any wall, boundary fence, racecourse rails, line of white post or in, or beyond, any narrow ditch bordering the course. (Out of Bounds is to be taken from the inside edge of white marker posts)
2. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS
a) staked trees, b) seats, c) steps (15th – 16th drop in bottom of pit), d) animal droppings, e) fencing, other than out of bounds – Rule 16 applies.
3. BRIDLE PATH/FRINGE/APRON OF “WRONG” GREEN
A ball lying on the fringe/apron of a green surface other than that being played must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole. Full relief must be taken. A ball lying on the bridle path or paths on the 4th, 17th may be lifted and dropped taking full relief within one club length, no nearer the hole. All artificially surfaced roads, tracks and paths including those with a prepared earth surface are immovable obstructions.
4. FIXED SPRINKLER HEADS/TEE BOXES
All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under Rule 16. In addition, if a ball lies off the putting green on closely mown grass but not in a penalty area and such an obstruction on or within one club-length of the putting green and within one club-length of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The ball shall be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids such intervention and (c) is not in a penalty area.
A player must drop off any tee box apart from the one belonging to the hole being played. Relief must be nearest point up to one club length, not nearer the hole. Relief is taken without penalty.
5. MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS
Stones in bunkers – Rule 15 applies.
6. OLD HOLE PLUGS/CAPPED HOLES
Intervening between a ball on the green and the hole may be considered ground under repair, and the ball may be lifted and placed without penalty not nearer the hole at nearest point of relief.
7. STAKED TREES
Protection of trees marked by stakes or fenced areas:- if such trees interfere with a player’s stance or the area of intending swing, the ball must be lifted without penalty and dropped with procedures prescribed in Rule 16 (immovable obstruction).
8. FAIRWAY MARKER POSTS
A player may take relief if their swing or stance are affected by a fairway marker post. The player may lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club-length of and not nearer the hole, than the nearest point of relief. If your shot strikes the marker post you may re-play the shot without penalty.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES:
Match Play – Loss of Hole; Stroke Play – Two strokes.
