Local Rules
Out of Bounds
A ball lying beyond the nearest inside point of any:
• Boundary fence/ditch
• White post on the boundary of the course
• White line marked along the boundary of the course/between white posts (e.g. to the right of the 1st & 2nd holes, to the left of the 10th hole (practice area) and to the left of the 15th hole is out of bounds.
Penalty Areas
Overflow/drainage ditches (e.g. from the pond at the 6th hole) are designated as either yellow or red penalty areas. The ponds at the 6th / 16th hole and at the 15th hole and the stream running between the 9th green and the clubhouse are red penalty areas. Rule 17 applies.
Abnormal Course Conditions
All buildings, shelters and artificially surfaced pathways are deemed immovable obstructions and relief MAY be taken under Rule 16.1 Abnormal Course Conditions, i.e. the player may lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club length not nearer the hole of the nearest point of complete relief.
If a player's ball comes to rest on vehicle wheel tracks (incl. bare earth/stones/the central grass verge on the track at the 2nd Hole) relief may be taken under Rule 16.1 Abnormal Course Conditions, i.e. the player may lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club length not nearer the hole of the nearest point of complete relief. However, interference by such conditions with a player's stance is deemed not to be, of itself, interference under this rule.
Ground under Repair
All areas marked as 'Ground Under Repair' or 'GUR' or within white lines is ground under repair. If a player’s ball lies in such areas, or if they interfere with a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, the player MUST take relief under Rule 16.1, i.e. the player may lift the ball and drop it, without penalty, within one club length not nearer the hole of the nearest point of complete relief. Play is prohibited from areas marked as “Ground Under Repair” or “GUR” or within white lines. If in GUR the designated “Dropping Zone” must be used if one is provided. If a dropping zone is not provided proceed as above.
Immovable Obstructions
Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1. The player has an extra option to take relief when such immovable obstructions are on or close to the putting green and on the line of play. This Local Rule only applies when both the ball and the obstruction are in part of the general area cut to fairway height or less.
Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:
On the line of play, and is:
• On or within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
• Within two club-lengths of the ball.
But complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference.
Exception – No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable
Fixed Sprinkler Heads
All fixed sprinkler heads are Immovable Obstructions and relief may be taken under Rule 16. In addition, relief may be taken under Rule 16.1b if a sprinkler head is on the line of play and is on or within two club-lengths of the putting green and is within two club-lengths of the ball. This Local Rule only applies when both the ball and the obstruction are in part of the general area cut to fairway height or less.
Practice Greens
The practice putting green near the 1st tee and the practice pitching green left of the 3rd green are wrong greens and relief MUST be taken under Rule 13.1f
