Local Rules
1/ Out of Bounds (Rule 18.2) is defined by;
- Beyond all boundary hedges and fences.
- On or beyond any line of white stakes defining the course boundary - The memorial garden area at the back of the 14th hole.
- 18th Hole. A ball on or beyond the road to the right of the 18th hole and then on or beyond the track in front of the farm house. The edge of the OOB is defined by the kerb side edge of the track. The white stakes on the edge of this track indicate and do not define the OOB. They are deemed to be Immoveable Obstructions. Then, on or beyond the line of white stakes to the right of the 18th green and along the right hand edge of the pathway to the clubhouse area.
2/ Penalty Areas (Rule 17) (Penalty Relief) - These are marked with red stakes.
- The stakes indicate the Penalty area they do not define the edge which is defined by the break of the ground into the ditch/pond.
- Non water penalty area-Where an area which does not contain water has been marked as a Penalty Area the edge of the Penalty Area is defined by the course side edge of the red stakes.
- Dropping Zones...4th and 14th holes.
If a ball lies in any of the penalty areas on the 4th or 14th holes the player has these relief options each for one penalty stroke;1/ Take relief under Rule 17.1 or (Penalty Relief)
2/ As an extra option, drop the original ball or another ball in the dropping zone, situated to the left of the putting green (4th) or the left side front of the pond (14th). The dropping zone is a relief area under rule 14.3 (Penalty Relief)
Penalty Area on Holes 1, 4 and 18 - Rule 17.1e - No Play Zone (Penalty Relief)
A player’s ball which comes to lie within these Penalty Areas MUST proceed under Rule 17.1 with one penalty stroke. The fence/ stakes supporting the ropes around these areas define the edge of the Penalty Area / No Play Zone.
3/ Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16) (Free Relief)
Immoveable Obstructions include;
- All roads and paths, even if not artificially surfaced.
Immoveable Obstructions (e.g. Sprinkler Heads) close to putting greensThe player has an extra option to take relief when such Immoveable Obstructions are on or close to the putting green and on the line of play:
Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an Immoveable Obstruction is:
On the Line of Play and is:
- On or within two club lengths of the putting green, and
- Within two club lengths of the ball.
But complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference.
Exception: There is no relief under this local rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable
Ground under Repair includes;
- All areas marked with either blue or white lines.
- Cracks in the ground within the general area. BUT relief is not allowed if the crack only interferes with the player’s stance.
NO PLAY ZONES ...Relief MUST be taken under 16.1f
All Unhealed Drainage Channels are NO PLAY ZONES. A player MUST take FREE relief under Rule 16.1f (Free Relief)
An unhealed drainage channel is any depression, gully or remnants of drainage work which has not fully grassed over.
4/ Protection of young staked trees..No Play Zones(Free Relief)
The young trees identified by stakes and/or wrapping are No Play Zones. If a players ball lies anywhere on the course other than a Penalty Area and it lies in or touches such a tree or the tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, they MUST take relief under Rule 16.1f (Free Relief)
5/ No Play Zone Fencing/roped off areas on holes 1, 4. and 18. Rule 16.1 (Free Relief)
A player’s ball that is not in the Penalty Area but their ball, stance or swing has interference from the fence/rope protecting the NPZ has the option of taking FREE relief under rule 16.1 or as an additional option proceed to the dropping zone nearest to where their ball lies.
6/ Additions
Distance Measuring Devices: You may use a device to measure distance , so long as any other facility, not permitted under Rule 4.3 is not used.
Unless otherwise determined by a Rule of Golf, Penalty for Breach of a local rule; General Penalty; Stroke play....2 Strokes...Matchplay ...Loss of Hole.
Etiquette
Your place on the course is immediately behind the group in front, not just in front of the group behind.
Trolleys and buggies should follow the greenside signage and not be taken across the white lines where painted in front of greens, nor taken between a greenside bunker and a green but taken around the bunkers and green surround. Replace divots, repair pitch marks and rake bunkers.
