d) On hole 2 the Greenkeeper’s compound.
e) The reservoir on holes 15 & 16.

2. PRACTICE AREAS (Rule 5.2)
a) The practice areas between holes 1 and 2 (being the area cut to fairway height or less) and to the right of
holes 9 and 10 are in the General Area and practice is permitted in these areas before a round on the same
day of a stroke-play competition (as well as match-play).

3. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)
a) The presence of a Penalty Area is indicated by red stakes, but they have no other meaning.
b) The margin of the Penalty Area is defined to be where the ground breaks down to form the depression.
c) The bridges on hole 16 are deemed to be wholly within the Penalty Area (no free relief is available for a ball
on the bridge).

4. ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITIONS, including IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 16)
a) Ground Under Repair. Areas enclosed by white lines (but see 5a below).
b) Deep ruts caused by vehicles.
5. NO PLAY ZONES (Rule 16.1f)

b) Young trees protected by plastic tubing or that are staked (so if there is interference of stance or swing from either condition, free relief MUST be taken).

6. INTEGRAL OBJECTS
a) All stone walls other than boundary walls are integral objects (no free relief).
NB. This means there is no free relief from any wall on the Course.

7. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS
a) In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, when a ball lies in the General Area
interference also exists if an Immovable Obstruction is:
i) on the players line of play
ii) is within 2 club lengths of the putting green
iii) and is within 2 club lengths of the ball

Relief may be taken under Rule 16.1b (lift and drop within 1 club length of the nearest point of relief in the
General Area, not nearer the hole).

Temporary Local Rules

1. Tractor marks
All tractor marks/ruts are to be treated as GUR

2. Seeded areas
All seeded areas, including any “seeded” divots, are NO PLAY ZONES and free relief MUST be taken. This does not apply to unseeded divots.

3. Cracks in the ground
Cracks in the ground in parts of the general area cut to fairway height or less are treated as
ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b.

4. Posts and ropes
To help protect the course all posts and ropes are deemed to be Immoveable obstructions and must
not be moved to enable play.

Players may take appropriate relief as per rule 16.1. Relief From Abnormal Course Conditions including Immoveable Obstructions Under rule 16.1a Free relief may be obtained when the ball touches the obstruction or where the obstruction physically interferes with the players intended stance or swing.
The player may take relief by dropping the ball in the relief area based on the nearest point of complete relief. The nearest point of relief is a point, nearest the ball's original spot that is no nearer the hole, in the required area of the course, and where there is no interference from the condition from which relief is being taken. The ball must then be dropped within 1 club length of the nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole. Relief is not allowed where the condition does not meet the above requirements, even though it may be close enough to distract the player.

5. Fairway Mats
When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less that has been
designated and a putter is not being used for the stroke, the player must take free relief by lifting the original ball and placing the original ball or another ball on an artificial mat and play it from there. The mat must be placed on top of the spot where the ball came to rest. If a ball when placed rolls off the mat, the player must try to place it a second time. If the ball again does not stay on the mat, the mat must be moved to the nearest spot, not nearer the hole, where the ball will come to rest on the mat when placed. If the ball on the mat is accidentally moved before a stroke is made, there is no penalty and the ball must be placed again on the mat. If a tee is used to secure the mat into the ground, the ball must not be placed on the tee. Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rule: General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a
