TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES
Relief from Seams of Cut Turf
If a player’s ball lies in or touches a seam of cut turf or a seam interferes with the player’s area of intended swing:
(a) Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
(b) Ball on Putting Green. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1d.
But interference does not exist if the seam only interferes with the player’s stance.
All seams within the area of cut turf are treated as the same seam in taking relief. This means that if a player has interference from any seam after dropping the ball, the player must proceed as required under Rule 14.3c(2) even when the ball is still within one club-length of the reference point.
LOCAL RULES
Out of Bounds (Rule 18)
Beyond any wall, gate, fence or hedge defining the boundary of the course.
In or beyond the trench indicated by the white stakes, or beyond the white line on the ground, to the right of the 18th fairway.
Areas surrounding the Clubhouse as defined by the Committee and including all paved areas.
Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
Penalty areas are defined by Red or Yellow markers where relief may be taken in accordance with the Rules of Golf or at a Drop Zone if the latter has been marked out at specific holes.
‘The Dinkie’ is a Penalty Area but also a No Play Area – players should not enter this area to retrieve their golf balls owing to the dangerous underfoot conditions.
Abnormal Course Conditions
(including Immovable Obstructions) Relief as described in Rule 16 may be taken from the following:
Hoof marks and tyre marks
Surface rock
Water in and around the trough on the 13th hole is deemed to be temporary water.
Huts, steps, troughs, fences and walls (except those forming part of the boundary).
All artificial roads, tracks and pathways.
All sprinkler heads (black in colour) and inspection/tap access covers (green in colour).
Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens
Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1. The player has an extra option to take relief when such immovable obstructions are on or close to the putting green and on the line of play:
Ball in General Area: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:
• On the line of play, and is:
- On or within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
- Within two club-lengths of the ball.
But complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference.
This Local Rule only applies when both the ball and the obstruction are in part of the general area cut to fairway height or less.
Exception - No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
Penalty for Playing Ball from a Wrong Place in Breach of Local Rule: General Penalty Under Rule 14.7a.
Practice
The practice ground is the area to the South East of the 18th fairway. Practice from any fairway or to any green on the course is strictly prohibited. The Practice Area is closed every Monday until midday for essential maintenance.
