Local Rules
1. Out of Bounds
a) Out of bounds is defined by the line between the course-side points at ground level of white stakes and fence posts defining the boundary of the course.
b) The course-side edge of any paved area surrounding the clubhouse enclosure.
c) The seaward side of the sleepers on the 12th hole.
2. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16.1)
(a) Abnormal course conditions are defined by any area encircled by a white line. Play is prohibited from all areas marked with a white line.
(b) Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16.1)
i. All drainage covers.
ii. Fixed sprinkler heads
iii. Course furniture
iv. All artificially surfaced roads and paths including wooden edge boards.
v. All bridges, and the sleepers to the right of the 3rd hole and around tees.
vi. All sheds except where the front of the shed forms the boundary of the course [16th hole].
3. Relief from Immovable Obstructions close to the putting green and on the line of play.
a) Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken for a ball in the General Play Area under Rule 16.1b if the immovable obstruction is:
On the line of play and is within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball.
Exception- No Relief if Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if a player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
4. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
ALL penalty areas on the course are RED PENALTY AREAS
5. Practice Area
Any ball coming to rest within the confines of the practice area must be played as it lies. The practice putting green adjacent the 18th green and the greens on the practice chipping area are defined as “Wrong Greens” Rule 13.1f.
6. 12th Hole
The line of sleepers and white posts on the seaward side of the 12th green mark the boundary of the course and any ball lying beyond them is deemed out of bounds. Relief must be taken under Rule 18.2 (i.e. stroke and distance). NOTE: If a ball lies against the fence and touches it on the green-side, it is NOT out of bounds and the ball must be played as it lies. However, the player may declare the ball unplayable and take relief under Rule 19.2. If taking the option under this Rule to drop the ball within two clubs’ lengths of where the ball lies, it must be dropped, not nearer the hole, under penalty of one stroke. NOTE: There is no free relief from interference by an out of bounds fence, to stance, area of intended swing or lie of the ball. Please note that buggies and trolleys are not allowed up the path to the green.
7. 16th Hole
When playing the 16th hole, a ball landing on or within two club lengths of the third green MUST be lifted and dropped in the marked dropping zone to the back of the green.
SUSPENSION OF PLAY DUE TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION (NOTE TO RULE 5.7b)
Immediate suspension of play: One prolonged note of siren.
Normal suspension: Three consecutive notes of siren, repeated.
Resume play: Two short notes of siren repeated.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULES:
Stroke Play - Two strokes
Match Play – Loss of Hole
INDEMNITY – All golfers use the facilities of Aberdovey Golf Club entirely at their own risk. All golfers are cautioned to take extra care when negotiating footbridges, steps, uneven ground, and ditches.
